Top Home Decor Items I Almost Always Thrift

  1. Glassware

Over the years, I have found some of my favorite glassware at thrift shops. When I am looking, I have to be open-minded and have a little bit of vision. I know if I find glassware that is clear or within the same color family, it can be a little mismatched but still create a cohesive look. Lately, I’m loving glass with a blue tint. Even if the blue isn’t a perfect match, it can look great together on a display shelf.

2. Woven Baskets, Bags & Hats

For years I’ve been thrifting my favorite woven hats and baskets from local thrift shops. They are timeless staples that can be used for years to come. More recently, I realized that these woven accessories look amazing on my walls and I’m using them just as much for home decor as I am wearing them. Woven hats and baskets are not only incredibly common at most thrift shops, but they are also a fraction of the price that you would pay for retail.

3. Ceramics

One of the easiest items to find at a thrift store is ceramics. I love to find one-of-a-kind vases or even whole sets of plates or coffee mugs. Sometimes I buy mismatched pieces in the same color scheme to create a more interesting and curated look.

4. Brass Candlestick Holders

Brass candlestick holders have become very trendy lately. But for as long as I can remember, I’ve been seeing them at thrift shops. They are extremely common, and you can find them for a fraction of the price. Also, if they are vintage, many of them have patinated over time which gives them beautiful character. Avoid getting matching styles… the variation in color and height creates a more interesting look.

5. Picture Frames

I’ve always had a thing for vintage frames. Sometimes I hang them on my wall with nothing in them because, to me, these beautiful frames are art in themselves. I particularly love finding ornate gold frames and mixing them in with wood or other simple frames to add contrast to a space which creates a lot of interest. I find gorgeous frames at thrift shops constantly, and can usually snag them for a couple of bucks.
